We wtorek 10 marca 2020 roku doszło do niebezpiecznego wypadku na przejeździe kolejowym w Wilkowicach. O godzinie 14:31 do Stanowiska Kierowania Komendanta Miejskiego PSP w Lesznie wpłynęło zgłoszenie o staranowaniu samochodu osobowego przez pociąg relacji Zbąszyń – Leszno.
Na miejsce zdarzenia zostały zadysponowane dwa zastępy z Jednostki Ratowniczo-Gaśniczej w Lesznie oraz jeden zastęp OSP Wilkowice. Pierwszy zastęp przybyły na miejsce zdarzenia zastał samochód osobowy po zderzeniu z szynobusem, oddalony ok. 8 m od torowiska oraz uszkodzony szynobus oddalony od przejazdu kolejowego o ok. 150 m. W wyniku zderzenia zostały poszkodowane dwie osoby, które po dojeździe pierwszego zastępu znajdowały się poza pojazdem. Kobieta kierująca samochodem osobowym marki Volkswagen Golf, nieprzytomna, z zachowanym oddechem, po udzieleniu kwalifikowanej pierwszej pomocy, została przetransportowana do szpitala. Pasażer osobówki, również został przebadany przez Zespół Ratownictwa Medycznego i przetransportowany do szpitala w celu wykonania dodatkowych badań. Pociągiem w chwili zdarzenia podróżowało 13 osób – nikt nie ucierpiał. Na miejsce zdarzenia przybyli przedstawiciele Polskich Kolei Państwowych, Służby Ochrony Kolei, Oficer operacyjny i Oficer prasowy KM PSP w Lesznie oraz technik policyjny w celu ustalenia przyczyn i okoliczności zdarzenia. Droga tj. ul. Dworcowa w Wilkowicach oraz linia kolejowa relacji Zbąszyń – Leszno w czasie prowadzenia akcji ratowniczej oraz czynności dochodzeniowych była całkowicie zablokowana.
