W sobotę, 14 marca o godz. 5.33 do dyżurnego Stanowiska Kierowania Państwowej Straży Pożarnej w Szamotułach wpłynęło zgłoszenie z Centrum Powiadamiania Ratunkowego o wypadku drogowym z udziałem dwóch samochodów oraz trzech osobach poszkodowanych, w tym jednej uwięzionej w pojeździe na drodze krajowej nr 92 w miejscowości Sękowo gm. Duszniki.
Oprócz trzech zastępów z Jednostki Ratowniczo-Gaśniczej w Szamotułach do zdarzenia wyjechały także wozy bojowe OSP Podrzewie, OSP Sękowo, Zespół Ratownictwa Medycznego oraz Policja.
Po dojeździe na miejsce zdarzenia strażacy zastali dwa samochody osobowe, które zderzyły się ze sobą oraz uszkodzony samochód ciężarowy.Jedna osoba poszkodowana znajdowała się uwięziona wewnątrz pojazdu, natomiast dwie osoby poszkodowane opuściły pojazd przed przybyciem SP i znajdowały się w pobliżu.
Samochód osobowy marki Mazda znajdował się na poboczu drogi, natomiast pojazd marki Peugeot znajdował się na pasie ruchu. Kilka metrów dalej znajdował się uszkodzony samochód ciężarowy.
Działania Straży Pożarnej polegały na zabezpieczeniu miejsca zdarzenia, wykonaniu dostępu do osoby poszkodowanej znajdującej się w pojeździe, wydobyciu osoby z pojazdu, udzieleniu kwalifikowanej pierwszej pomocy osobom poszkodowanym (prowadzenie resuscytacja krążeniowo-oddechowej, wsparcie psychiczne, zabezpieczenie przed utratą ciepła), pomocy w transporcie osób poszkodowanych do karetki Zespołu Ratownictwa Medycznego, rozłączeniu akumulatorów w uszkodzonych pojazdach, pomocy Policji w zorganizowaniu objazdów i kierowaniu ruchem drogowym oraz sorpcji płynów eksploatacyjnych.
Niestety będący na miejscu zdarzenia lekarz po długotrwałej resuscytacja krążeniowo-oddechowej stwierdził zgon mężczyzny.Na czas prowadzonych działań ruch na drodze krajowej nr 92 został wstrzymany – Policja wyznaczyła objazdy, następnie odbywał się wahadłowo.
W działaniach ratowniczych brało udział 6 zastępów (22 ratowników) z Państwowej Straży Pożarnej, Ochotniczej Straży Pożarnej, Zespół Ratownictwa Medycznego, Policja, Prokurator, Pomoc Drogowa oraz Służba Drogowa.Przyczyny tragicznego zdarzenia ustala Policja pod nadzorem Prokuratora.
